No road facilities, no adequate lighting arrangements, passengers are also at risk from thieves

Railways shifted five trains from Udhna station to Bhestan station, but did not provide basic facilities. As a result, the number of passengers in these trains has come down to less than half in a year. The Bhestan station lacks many basic amenities with the platform being low in height.

Information has been received from an RTI that now the number of passengers in Bhestan has decreased significantly compared to when these trains were halted in Udhna. However, the reason behind the decrease in the number of passengers is that the Railways is assuming Corona. However, the reality is that basic facilities like adequate lights, roads and sheds have not been provided yet. Travelers also have the fear of thieves here.

Passengers in Bandra-Patna Superfast decreased from 57 thousand to 23 thousand

At present there are five train halts at Bhestan railway station. These are the same trains that stopped at Udhna before October 2020. In Bandra-Saharsa Humsafar Express, from March 2019 to March 2020, 40 thousand passengers left from Udhna. In this, from October 2020 till now, only five thousand passengers went from Bhestan.

In the Valsad-Muzaffarpur Shramik Express, 43 thousand passengers went from Udhna during the same period, whereas till now only 8 thousand passengers went from Bhestan. A total of 33 thousand passengers went in Valsad-Kanpur Udyogkarmi Express from March 2019 to March 2020, whereas from October 2020 till now only 9 thousand passengers went from Bhestan.

In Bandra-Gorakhpur Ex, 50 thousand passengers went from Udhna from March 2019 to March 2020, whereas after November only 19 thousand passengers went from Bhestan till now. Similarly, Bandra-Patna Superfast Express carried 57 thousand passengers from March 2019 to March 2020, whereas from Bhestan 23 thousand passengers went since November 2020.

Status: Platform height still low at station

Railway officials are considering Corona as the reason behind less passengers in five mail-express trains at Bhestan station than at Udhna station, but the reality is that there is still a huge lack of passenger facilities in Bhestan. Since the halt of trains has been approved here, the height of the platforms has not been increased. The work of setting up the shed is still pending. Apart from this, there is also the problem of connectivity with the main road.
