Police have recovered Rs 2 lakh from the accused who tried to withdraw 28 lakh 51 thousand rupees and tried to withdraw more than 1 crore from the bank account of Bank of Baroda located in Sector-37, Chandigarh. Police interrogation revealed that the accused was given Rs 2 lakh in return for this work. The police have recovered the said amount from the accused. The accused has been identified as Kota Gadwani Thirupathi (42), a resident of Ganeshpur, Maharashtra. Police had brought the accused from Maharashtra to Chandigarh by Vani. Who is going on remand of 8 days. During the remand, the police is now interrogating the accused. Police say that very soon other accused will also be in police custody.

In fact, someone had withdrawn 28 lakh 51 thousand rupees from the bank account of Bank of Baroda located in Sector-37 of the Municipal Corporation. Not only this, the accused had also recently tried to withdraw money by putting two checks of more than 1 crore. The complaint of this matter was given to the police by the Chief Accountant Officer of the Municipal Corporation, Varinder Singh Thakur. After receiving the complaint, the Sector-17 police station registered a case against the unknown. In the complaint given to the police, Varinder Singh Thakur had said that the Municipal Corporation has an account in Bank of Baroda, Sector-37. In that bank, someone tried to withdraw more than 1 crore rupees by putting two fake checks and even 28 lakh 51 thousand had also been withdrawn from the same account through fake cheques. When the complaint reached the police, the police recorded his statement. After which a case was registered against unknown accused. If sources are to be believed, on October 13 and October 16, two fake checks 98.51 and 22.50 issued by the Municipal Corporation were installed in Bank of Baroda, for which the bank had made stop payment.

When the police went to the bank and started the investigation, the bank officials said that when the check was placed in the bank, the name and mobile number of the person who brought the check was written behind it. That mobile number was provided to the police by the bank. SHO-17 Ram Ratna Sharma formed different teams under the supervision of SSP UT Kuldeep Singh Chahal as soon as the mobile number was in hand, in which the bus stand outpost in-charge Gurjeevan Singh was also included. When the police came to know that the owner of the same mobile that got the check in the bank is currently in Vani, Maharashtra, the police went there and arrested him. That these checks were not issued from there, due to which the stop payment was made, but when the Municipal Corporation checked its bank records, on October 11, 28.51 lakh was paid from the account of the Municipal Corporation to the account of Karthikya Fish Plant, Vani. The transfer was done through fake cheque. Only after that the matter was revealed, the complaint was given to the police and then the police had registered a case on the complaint of Varinder Singh Thakur, Chief Accountant Officer of the Municipal Corporation and Kota Thirupathi, who got a check of 28.51 lakhs in the bank, was informed by the police.
