The Health Ministry said on Wednesday that during the third wave of Corona, 8 states have been troubled, where the Kovid positivity rate is high. Health Ministry Joint Secretary Luv Agarwal said that these states are Maharashtra, Bengal, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Gujarat. Among them, Bengal has the highest positivity rate of 32.18%. This is followed by Delhi at 23.1% and Maharashtra at 22.39%.

Aggarwal said that on Wednesday, there was a huge increase in the cases of Kovid. Now the number of active cases in the country has increased to 9,55,319, but this trend of rapid growth is global. Cases have doubled in the last two weeks in 8 countries of Europe. He said that the Omicron variant of Corona has caused 115 deaths in the world and one person died from this variant in India. According to the data that has come out so far, Omicron has a lower risk of hospitalization than Delta.

Can discharge only after 3 days in normal infection
Aggarwal said that the discharge policy has been changed after a meeting with the Prime Minister on the condition of Corona. Now discharge can be done 7 days after testing positive in mild cases and 3 days in non-emergency cases and test is not required before that. In cases of common infection, if the symptoms are decreasing and the patient’s oxygen level is 93% for 3 days, then he can be discharged.

7 days home quarantine necessary for those who come in contact with without symptoms
He told that it is necessary to test those in whom symptoms are being found and whoever is coming in contact with them. Tests are not needed in asymptomatic cases, unless they are in the risk category. 7 days home quarantine is necessary for all the people coming in contact with them.

Do not misunderstand Omicron for common cold or fever
Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health) of NITI Aayog, who was present in the press conference, warned that some people are negligent considering Omicron as common cold or fever. This could be dangerous. He said that it is the responsibility of all of us to slow it down, for which wearing a mask and getting the vaccine is the only solution. It is a fact that vaccines are keeping you safe.

Overuse of medicines is a matter of concern
Paul also said that there is a need to have logical thinking in the use of medicines as well. We are concerned about the overuse and misuse of medicines. Do not overuse medicines, it will prove harmful. Home remedies include drinking warm water and gargling.
