Omicron wave has arrived in Uttar Pradesh. Here 15 percent of the patients have been found infected with the Omicron variant. So far a total of 205 samples were sent for sequencing, out of which Omicron has been found in 31. 11 districts of UP have come under the grip of Omicron. On Tuesday, Omicron was confirmed among 23 infected in a single day. With this, the total number of patients who came under the JD of this new variant reached 31.
The biggest challenge still for the government is to trace the Omicron variant. There are 3173 active cases of corona in the state, but genome sequencing has been done for only 205. The exact answer to the question of how many days the samples of the remaining positive patients will be sent for genome sequencing is not even with the responsible officers of the department. At the same time, in the team 9 meeting on Tuesday, CM Yogi, while giving instructions to speed up genome sequencing, has instructed to start it soon in Gorakhpur Medical College, Jhansi and Ghaziabad Medical College apart from SGPGI.
23 Omicrons found infected in a single day
In UP, on December 17, the first patients infected with Omicron were found in Ghaziabad. After this, its patients also appeared in Rae Bareli, Muzaffarnagar and Meerut. On Tuesday, the report of 23 infected was found to be Omicron positive. Maximum 8 have been found infected in Lucknow, 5 in Meerut, 3 in Ghaziabad, 2 in Moradabad, 2 in Kanpur, 2 in Agra and one in Maharajganj.
3173 active patients of corona in the state
According to Kovid State Surveillance Officer Dr. Vikasendu Agarwal, so far the report of genome sequencing of 205 samples has been received in the state. Dr. Vikasendu argues that sequencing can be done only in such a sample whose CT value is less than 25. Apart from this, sometimes there is a technical hurdle in sequencing the collected sample due to various other reasons. However, he also says that about 2 thousand patients have come in the last 3 days, that is why their samples are also being sent now.
According to Dr. Vikasendu Aggarwal, on an average, genome sequencing reports of all covid infected are coming within 5 to 7 days. Samples are sent to the nearest center or wherever the sequencing is to be done. At present, this investigation is being done at 2 centers in the state. Apart from this, this facility is available at many centers in Delhi as well, that is why samples are sent there too.
So far only genome sequencing of UP sample is being done here.
