The maximum number of 81 cases of counterfeit notes being caught in the country were registered in West Bengal. In these cases, a total of 111 people were arrested by the police and 24,227 fake notes were caught.

Despite the promotion and demonetization of digital transactions by the central government, the cases of fake Indian currency seizures in the country have not come down. In Maharashtra alone, in the year 2020, the police caught 6,99,495 Indian fake notes from 97 people. Whose total value was Rs 83.61 crore. According to the latest NCRB report, 42 cases of fake currency seizures were registered in Maharashtra last year.

According to the NCRB report, in the year 2020, 8,34,947 fake Indian currency worth a total of 92.18 crores were caught in the country. This is 190.5 percent more than the total fake Indian currency caught in 2019. According to the NCRB, a total of 2,87,404 fake Indian currency was caught in the year 2019. Whose total value was Rs 25.39 crore. A total of 385 cases of counterfeit Indian currency have been registered in various police stations across the country.

Maximum 81 cases were registered in West Bengal
The maximum number of 81 cases of counterfeit notes being caught in the country were registered in West Bengal. In which 17,078 fake notes were recovered with the arrest of 55 people. Its total value was Rs 38.79 lakh. In Gujarat, 32 people were arrested in 23 cases. 20,360 fake notes were recovered here. Whose value was Rs 87.96 lakh.

In Madhya Pradesh, 2,085 fake notes were found in 5 cases. Its total value was Rs 2,02 lakh. In Delhi, 3,476 fake notes were caught in 4 cases. Whose value was 4.16 lakh rupees. 14,444 fake notes were caught in Punjab. Whose value was Rs 95.80 lakh. Similarly, 6,190 fake notes were caught in Rajasthan. Whose value was Rs 27.35 crore. Let us inform that a total of 633 people were arrested in the cases of fake notes caught in the year 2020 across the country.

How many fake notes were caught
According to the NCRB report, a total of 8,34,947 counterfeit notes were caught in the country in the year 2020. In this, 2,44,834 notes of 2000 rupees, 3,18,143 notes of 1,000 rupees, 5,789 notes of old 500 rupees and 2,09,685 fake notes of new 500 rupees were caught. Similarly, 11,841 notes of Rs 200, 33,443 of Rs 100, 1,589 notes of Rs 50, 8,599 of new Rs 50 notes, 34 of Rs 20 and 990 counterfeit notes of Rs 10 were seized.

Maharashtra alone accounts for 8 percent of the total forgery in the country.

According to the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a total of 672 cases were registered in the country in 2020 under sections 231 to 243, 255 and 489-A to 489-E of the IPC. In this, about 8 percent i.e. 54 incidents happened in Maharashtra.

However, more than Maharashtra 109 cases were registered in West Bengal, Assam 63 and Uttar Pradesh 55 cases. Similarly, the offenses relating to counterfeit coins, counterfeiting of government stamps, counterfeiting currency notes and bank notes, using counterfeit currency notes or bank notes as genuine, keeping them in possession, equipment for such offence. 49 cases were registered in Madhya Pradesh, 49 in Rajasthan, 27 in Gujarat, 18 in Haryana, 25 in Punjab and 32 in Delhi for making or possessing material and composing or using currency notes or bank note-like documents.
