Student organizations protesting in front of VC office.
Various student organizations of Panjab University protested in front of the VC office on different issues on Friday. However, the students have demonstrated many times in the past regarding these issues. But so far no concrete result has come out. The tough attitude of the university administration is forcing the students to protest again and again.
The students raised slogans in front of the VC office in protest against the university administration delaying the reopening of the campus. Students say that when the UT administration has given permission and many colleges are starting physical classes from next week. In such a situation, there is no concrete reason behind not opening the campus of the university, why it is not being opened again.
Whereas according to the data being released every day by the Health Department, the cases of corona are continuously decreasing. Apart from this, more than 90% of the population of the city has received the first dose of the vaccine. The main demands of the students include reopening of campuses and hostel allotment, withdrawal of all fee notices till physical classes start.
Apart from this, the distribution of fees in 4 installments, waiving off the full fees of the students financially affected by Kovid, cancellation of late fees levied on submission of migration certificates were included. The student organizations appealed to all the students not to pay the fees till the university accepts all their demands.
While accepting the memorandum, Associate DSW Prof. Ashok Kumar assured the protesting students that they are planning to reopen the university campus this month. He has also assured to look into the matters of fee notices. ASA, AISA, SOPU, NSUI, PUSU, Y4S and other members participated in this protest.
