The Crime Branch Unit of Pune Police on Friday arrested 6 people for demanding extortion in the name of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. They are accused of demanding Rs 20 lakh from a builder. It is being told that the accused had made a fake call through an app to demand extortion from the builder. All the accused were produced in Shivajinagar court on Friday morning, from where the court has sent them to 10-day police custody.
20 lakh lime was imposed on such builder
The accused had downloaded the ‘Fake Call App’ from the Google Play Store. Through this app, he called the builder using the mobile number of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. He called himself PA Chowgley of the Deputy CM and put a demand of 20 lakh rupees, threatening to put a stop to a project. The builder also fell in his trap and went to the designated place and gave 20 lakh cash to the accused. The accused had also threatened the builder to back down in a land dispute. Due to this the builder got suspicious and the matter reached the police station.

The arrested accused have been identified as Navnath Bhausaheb Chormale, Saurabh Narayan Kakade, Sunil alias Bala Gautam Waghmare, Kiran Rambhau Kakade, Akash Sharad Nikhalje and Chaitanya Rajendra Waghmare.
