Due to the activation of Monsoon in Himachal, the rainy season continues. Incessant rains have affected life in many areas of the state including the capital Shimla. 23 roads in the state have been blocked due to landslides. Eight roads are blocked in Kullu, seven in Mandi, four in Sirmaur and one each in Hamirpur, Kangra, Shimla and Solan.
Teams of the Public Works Department are busy in smoothing the obstructed roads. Eight power transformers in Mandi district and a water project in Kullu were also stalled. Three houses and five gaushalas have been damaged due to the rain.
The rivers and streams are in spate due to heavy rains. The Mass Department has issued an advisory advising people to keep distance from rivers, drains and not travel in landslide prone areas. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for eight districts falling under the plains and mid-mountain areas in the next 24 hours.
Forecast of rain up to 210 mm per hour has been issued in these districts. The weather conditions are expected to remain bad in the state till August 27. Sujanpur Tihra has recorded the highest rainfall of 107 mm during 24 hours.
Car of devotees returning to Hasiyarpur after seeing Chintpurni Mata collapsed, 5 injured
The car of devotees returning to Hoshiarpur after seeing Chintpurni Mata fell uncontrollably in Kinnu and fell into a ditch 150 feet below. Five people including the driver were injured in the accident, including a woman. All of them have been sent to Amb Civil Hospital for treatment. These people are being told from Hoshiarpur. The injured have been identified as Inder Kumar, Karan, Rajan and Deepak in village Kachcha Toba district Hoshiarpur. Rajan was driving. The case has been confirmed by SP Una Arjit Sen.
