Before the election of about 10 municipal corporations including Mumbai, there has been a panic in the Congress after the letter bomb exploded. AICC member Vishwabandhu Rai has written a letter to Congress high command Sonia Gandhi to expose the Congress ministers involved in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Rai has said in the letter that Congress functionaries have joined Shiv Sena and NCP during the last few days. This weakened the party.

In a letter to Sonia Gandhi, Rai has said that 12 Congress ministers in the Maharashtra government are not working on the party’s agenda. These ministers are completely apathetic about strengthening the organisation. He reminded the Congress high command that in 2019, when the then Congress President Rahul Gandhi visited Mumbai, under the SRA scheme, a 500 sq ft flat was promised to the slum dwellers.

Failure to fulfill the promises of Congress
Rai further wrote that despite joining the Mahavikas Aghadi government, this promise of the Congress has not been fulfilled, while the promise made by Shiv Sena to waive property tax to the flat holders of 500 square feet. It has recently been completed. Congress is included in the state government. Despite this, there is a lapse in fulfilling the promises made in its manifesto. Apart from this, the complaint of the Energy Minister has also been made in the letter for not fulfilling the promise made with the public to waive the electricity bill.

Mumbai Congress being run in connivance with Shiv Sena
Vishwabandhu Rai has accused President Bhai Jagtap of running the Mumbai Congress in connivance with Shiv Sena. He told Sonia Gandhi that despite the election of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation with an annual budget of Rs 36,000 crore, there is no visible preparation from the Mumbai Congress to contest the elections alone. Shiv Sena and NCP, which are part of the Mahavikas Aghadi government, are appointing their party leaders in various Mahamandals, while Congress workers are being ignored.

Vishwabandhu asked: How did the membership campaign flop
Rai has also questioned how the party’s digital membership drive in Mumbai is becoming a super flop. He has given detailed information about this to the top leadership of the party. Rai said that the Congress is involved in the Maharashtra government. Despite this, the state government did not approve the rally of senior party leader Rahul Gandhi in Mumbai. This political incident has tarnished the image of the party among the people of Mumbai.
