The 73rd Republic Day celebrations were celebrated with pomp across the country including Maharashtra. The tricolor was hoisted peacefully in almost all the cities of the state. However, the security personnel present on the spot caught the self-immolators at the right time by spraying petrol and a major accident was averted.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray hoisted the flag at Varsha Niwas. Chief Minister’s wife Rashmi Thackeray, Tourism, Environment and Etiquette Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Chief Secretary Debashish Chakraborty and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Vikas Kharge were present on the occasion.
