A fire broke out in a 20-storey building in Mumbai on Saturday morning. 7 people died in this accident. Two of those who lost their lives are elderly. At the same time, 19 people got burnt. Among them 6 are elderly. The fire broke out in Kamla Society, a building in the Tardeo area.
It is being told that it was extinguished after about 5 hours of effort. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Officials of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said that 5 died in Nair Hospital, one each in Kasturba Hospital and Bhatia Hospital.
The fire broke out on the 15th floor of Kamala Society building in Taddev area.
Being on the 19th floor, there was a lot of difficulty in extinguishing the fire.
Condition of 3 out of 19 critical
DCP, Saurabh Tripathi said that the fire started on the 15th floor and continued to grow on the upper floor. The 19th floor was affected the most. According to the Mumbai administration, relief workers had a hard time reaching inside due to the smoke. 19 people were rescued. The administration has admitted 15 people to Bhatia Hospital. The condition of 3 is critical. He has been kept in ICU. Rest 12 people are injured. All are being treated in the general ward.
It took 5 hours to put out the fire. 21 vehicles of the fire department were engaged.
Earlier, 10 seriously injured people were taken to Nair Hospital, out of which two people were declared brought dead. Later, three more people died during treatment. The rest is undergoing treatment. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that some people were having trouble breathing due to the smoke. Now his condition is fine.

According to fire brigade officials, there was a level three fire in the building. It was so severe that it took 13 fire tenders to extinguish it.
