Reason – Manphool wanted to end his life by going to Kuldevi, treatment going on in the hospital.
Manphool Singh, 68, from Mainpuri Uttar Pradesh, who came to pay obeisance to his Kuldevi at Bajreshwari temple, tried to commit suicide by jumping into the Havan Kund of the temple premises. This created panic in the temple premises. The sounds of screaming started coming in the Havan Kund. The priests and local devotees who were doing the puja on the spot took Manphool Singh out of the Havan Kund. By then, more than 40% of his legs, arms and body had been burnt.
Manphool was admitted to the Civil Hospital Kangra in an injured condition. The injured Manphool Singh told that I wanted to end my life by going to my Kuldevi. It was not known when he reached the Havan Kund while worshiping. Police have informed the relatives of Manphool who came in the bus from Mainpuri along with other devotees.
Vivek Sood, SMO of Civil Hospital Kangra said that the leg, arm and back of the devotee Manphool Singh has been scorched and more than 40 percent of the area has been burnt, treatment is on in the hospital. Police station in-charge Bharat Bhushan, who reached the spot, told that the police is recording the statement of Manphool Singh and the police have registered a case and started investigation.
