Corona cases are increasing in Delhi. The pace of infection has become scary. On January 4, about 5 thousand cases were found in the state, which increased 5 times in five days to 20 thousand on Saturday. Even after this, there is no lockdown in the state. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference in this regard on Sunday.

Kejriwal said that today (January 9) more than 22 thousand cases are expected, but there is no need to panic. He also clarified the situation regarding the lockdown. He said that the situation is under control. If you wear a mask, we will not impose a lockdown.

This was his first press conference after recovering from the Karena infection. Kejriwal said that there is absolutely no need to panic as the hospitalization rate of people is much lower than in the second wave, while the new cases are almost the same.

Till December 29, less than 1000 cases were being registered in Delhi. On January 30, 1,313 cases were found here. In 10 days, the daily cases here increased to more than 20 thousand. There are 48,178 active cases, out of which 25,909 people are in home isolation. So far 36 people have died here in 8 days of January. On January 8, the positivity rate here became 19.60.

Weekend curfew is already in place in Delhi. This curfew, imposed from 10 pm on Friday night, will remain till 5 am on Monday. During this time only those people who are connected to the essential service and who are in emergency situation, can leave the house. These people will have to show an e-pass or a valid identity card issued by the government.

DDMA meeting will be held tomorrow
The Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Delhi is also scheduled to meet on Monday. In this meeting, further restrictions including total curfew will be discussed under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
The agenda of this meeting will be to assess the current situation of Corona and take stock of the preparedness amidst the growing case of Omicron. There will also be a review of the vaccination program.
