Seeing the spread of infection in Punjab, testing is being increased.

There is a possibility of a third wave coming in Punjab at the speed of Corona. The most worrying situation is in Patiala, which has become a corona hotspot. Where now there can be an infection of the Omicron variant of the corona. In view of this, the government has made preparations to conduct a genome sequencing test of the cases that came here.

Dr. Rajesh Bhaskar, Corona Nodal Officer, Punjab Health Department said that a cluster of corona patients has been formed in Patiala. That’s why genome sequencing tests will be started there.

Government worried about the pace of Patiala

The speed of Corona in Patiala in the state has worried the government. Patiala had 98 cases on January 1, which increased to 133 on January 2 and 143 on January 3. At the same time, on January 4, 366 cases came and one patient died. In view of the rapidly spreading infection, it is feared that it could be an Omicron variant of Corona.

The number of patients admitted to the hospital increased
Due to the increasing number of corona patients, now the burden has started on the hospitals too. On January 1, only 31 patients were admitted in hospitals in Punjab. Of these, 23 were kept on oxygen while 8 were admitted to the ICU. However, as soon as the infection increased, their count reached 48 the next day. In these, one patient also reached the ventilator. On January 3, the count of patients admitted to the hospital rose to 67. In which 50 oxygen, 15 ICU and 2 patients went on ventilator. On January 4, the situation worsened and 70 patients reached the hospital. In which 54 patients had to be kept on oxygen, 15 on ICU and one on ventilator.

Government has imposed night curfew and restrictions

To deal with the spread of corona infection, the Punjab government has imposed night curfew. This night curfew has been imposed in municipal limits i.e. from 10 pm to 5 am in cities and towns. At the same time, gyms, sports stadiums, swimming pools etc. have been closed. Apart from this, after January 15, no one will be allowed to go out without the vaccine.
