Sameer Wankhede, a 2008 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, is the son of retired Maharashtra Police officer Dayandev Wankhede.

Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) Mumbai zone director Sameer Wankhede, who came into limelight after busting a drug racket in Bollywood, ends today. Despite having the option, he has not taken extension of service. However, the NCB in September had given him an extension of four months, which expires today. After busting the cruise drugs case, many controversies were also involved in the name of Sameer Wankhede, in which there was also an allegation of demanding a ransom of 25 crores in exchange for releasing Aryan Khan. Apart from this, NCP spokesperson and minister Nawab Malik had also accused of doing jobs with the help of fake cast certificates.

Wankhede seized drugs worth 1 thousand crores
While serving in NCB, Sameer Wankhede arrested 96 people and registered 28 cases from August 2020 to December 2020. In 2021 they arrested 234 people and registered 117 cases. Wankhede seized more than 1791 kg of drugs worth around Rs 1000 crore and froze assets worth over Rs 11 crore.

Starting from actor Rhea Chakraborty, several high-profile Bollywood celebrities were interrogated and arrested by the NCB under Wankhede, who was on deputation to the central agency since September 2020.
