A very shocking incident has come to light from Satara, Maharashtra. A man admitted to the drug de-addiction center here climbed a 90-foot high tension tower for two bottles of liquor. After this, efforts went on all night to bring him down and after about 6 hours of effort, he could be brought down somehow. In order to bring him down, the power supply company MSEDCL kept the power supply of the area closed for 10 hours. It has been told on behalf of the company that due to this there has been a loss of about 10 lakh rupees.

Koynanagar police station officer S Pawar said that the man had climbed the tower at 6 pm and was brought down at 4 am on Thursday. To bring him down, we had called Chhatrapati Shivendra Singh Raje Bhosale Rescue Team to the spot. The employees of MSEDCL along with the local police kept bothering the whole night to bring him down. We also had to make false promises of giving liquor bottles to persuade the man. However, the man was released at the de-addiction center after he was brought down. At present his condition is normal and his treatment is going on under the supervision of doctors.

The accused person has been identified as Cariappa Tukaram Kantekar. He is a resident of Athani in Belgaum. His relatives had brought him to the de-addiction center in Koyne to get rid of alcohol. Cariappa was dropped by his relatives at the drug de-addiction center on Wednesday morning itself. He says that while intoxicated, Cariappa used to do similar things earlier also.
