In IGMC, four new patients of scrub typhus have been found in IGMC. The administration had taken samples of 84 people in a few days, in which four people have come positive. It consists of three women and one man. These patients from Kullu and Mandi J had come to IGMC for examination and are now under treatment here. After the arrival of scrub typhus patients, an alert has been issued in IGMC.
How it spreads: Scrub typhus is caused by a bacterium called Rickettsiae and is found in fleas. Infected fleas are found in wild rats and enter homes through grass and fields. The infected flea bites a healthy person and spreads scrub typhus. Therefore, to avoid this, do not allow grass or bushes to grow around the house and keep cleaning from time to time.
