After the capture of Taliban in Afghanistan, there is an atmosphere of fear and panic among Afghan students, parents studying in UG and PG courses of Gujarat University. Concerned parents have appealed that we are not safe in Afghanistan, you do not come here, stay in India for now. The government has recommended to extend the duration of the visa. More than 30 thousand students are studying in Undergraduate and Undergraduate in Gujarat University from all over Afghanistan including Kandahar, Kabul, Jalalabad.
Out of this, about 15 thousand students are doing BSc, BBA, BCA. Shahab Sharifi, who holds a BCA degree from GJ College, affiliated to Gujarat University, said the students studying here and their families are worried about the current situation. Our parents told us that we are not safe in Afghanistan. Don’t come here, stay in India for now. Ask the local administration to extend the duration of the visa.
Mohammad Khalid, who is doing PhD in Criminal Psychology, told that after 20 years there has been a coup in Afghanistan. The new government may delay policy making. The visa period of students studying in Gujarat is expiring in August. Keeping in mind the safety of students and parents, the government should allow them to stay in India.
