  • Kerala became the center of infection, seeing the increasing cases, the central government sent a special team

The ever-increasing corona infection in Kerala has again scared the country. In view of the situation there, the Central Government has sent a team of 6 experts to Kerala under the leadership of Dr. SK Singh, Director, National Center for Disease Control. Actually, till one and a half months ago, only 13% of the country’s new patients were getting in Kerala, now 51% are being found. On the other hand, Kerala has also the highest number of total treated patients (active cases) across the country.

There are 1.50 lakh active patients, which is 38% of the country. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the team of central experts will work on the ground with the Kerala government. On the other hand, the Center has also written a letter to the Kerala government terming the decision of relaxing the restrictions on the religious festival as wrong. The Kerala government on Thursday announced new restrictions to control the infection. According to this, the complete lockdown will be applicable for two days in a week (Saturday and Sunday).

new patients daily

Total treated patients (active cases) 3,97,324

79.3% of the new patients found daily in the country are in only 5 states. These include Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, 75% of the active patients of the country are also in these 5 states. The higher risk of infection is in the northeastern states after the south.

Only Rajasthan in North India, where the infection rate has exceeded 10% in 3 districts.
How much the impact of the epidemic can be in the coming days, it is estimated from the rate of infection (test positivity rate). Accordingly, the situation in the northeastern states remains critical. The average rate of infection in India is currently 2%, while there are 46 districts in the country where this rate is more than 10%. Of these, 31 districts are from the Northeast. Whereas, in 12 districts in Kerala with the highest number of new patients, the rate is more than 10%. Only three districts of North India have rates above 10%. These three districts Sirohi, Rajsamund and Chittorgarh are in Rajasthan.

One reason for the sudden increase in infection is the relaxation of restrictions
‘The infection has not spread completely in Kerala. The main reason for this is that the micro-containment zone is being followed properly there. Now one of the reasons for the sudden increase in infection is the relaxation of restrictions on the festival.
