The Research Wing of the Uttarakhand Forest Department has discovered a new and rare species of Orchid, as per an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer. The species, named Cephalanthera erecta var. oblanceolata, was discovered in the Chamoli district. The species has not been reported in India before.

Zambia’s opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema won the country’s presidential election with a landslide victory over incumbent President Edgar Lungu, stated the Electoral Commission of Zambia on August 16, 2021.
