The delta variant of Corona, which has become a cause of concern worldwide, has started increasing the cases of infection in India. According to the Institute of Mathematical Science, Chennai, the rate of R value in the country has increased from 0.93 to 1.01 percent within a month. That is, now a corona patient is spreading the infection to more than one person.

What is the R value of Corona?
According to data scientists, the R factor is the reproduction rate. It tells how many people are or may be infected by an infected person. If the R factor is greater than 1.0 it means that the cases are increasing. On the other hand, the R factor being less than 1.0 or going down is a sign of decreasing case.
It can also be understood from the fact that if 100 people are infected. If they infect 100 people then the R value will be 1. But if they are able to infect 80 people then this R value will be 0.80.

Why worry about increasing R value?
The R value increased to 1.4 in March. After this, there was a decline in the R value in the country after 9 May 2021. Between May 15 and June 26, it had come down to 0.78. But after June 20, it increased to 0.88. Now the R value is 1.01. That is, the cases will increase very fast, the increase of this value is worrying.

can spread faster than smallpox delta variant
Earlier, scientists have expressed concern about the delta variant of Corona. It was revealed in a US study that this variant of corona can spread rapidly among people like chickenpox. This study by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has not yet been published, but a document has appeared in the New York Times. Delta is more contagious than other variants of the coronavirus. A few days ago, 99% of the corona victims in the UK were found in Delta.

The worrying thing in the study done on the virus was that people who had received both doses of the vaccine could also spread the delta variant like those who did not get the vaccine. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle P. Valensky had told that people who have been vaccinated have the same virus in their nose and throat as those who are not vaccinated, due to which it spreads easily.
