In a special meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja, discussions were held with various stakeholders to convert an area of ​​Gurgaon into an electric vehicle zone. In the meeting, responsibilities were given to the concerned officers by the Municipal Commissioner to implement the plan to promote the electric vehicle.

Although such a plan has been made many times in the past, but till now it has not materialised. Once again the new municipal commissioner has taken initiative in this direction. It was informed in the meeting that the Municipal Corporation is working under Project Parivartan to start electric auto in place of old diesel auto. By running a special campaign by the traffic police, the diesel auto owners of the proposed electric vehicle zone will be made aware to adopt electric vehicles.

On adopting an electric vehicle, a subsidy of 60 to 65 thousand rupees will be given under the Municipal Corporation and Fame India scheme and loan of the remaining amount will be given through banks. There will be adequate number of charging stations in the Electric Vehicle Zone, where the vehicle will be charged. The amount for scrapping the old diesel auto will also be given to the concerned auto owner only.

The Municipal Commissioner directed the officers of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram to identify the place for setting up a charging station in the proposed Electric Vehicle Zone. It was informed in the meeting that under the pilot project, a plan is proposed to make Electric Vehicle Zone from Cyber ​​City to Golf Course Road, MG Road Metro Station, IFFCO Chowk, HUDA City Centre, Glaria Market, Cyber ​​Park, Subhash Chowk etc.
