The Help and Rehabilitation Department informed the CM that 10 districts have been badly affected due to heavy rains and landslides that occurred on July 22.

A loss of Rs 1700 crore is estimated in the six flood-affected districts of Maharashtra. Making such a claim, the Western Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (Wesmac) said that about 8,000 small, medium and big traders in the flood-affected areas have been ruined. Wesmac President Lalit Gandhi has written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray demanding compensation to the flood-affected traders. He said that most of the traders had not even taken out the insurance of their shops and establishments. Because of which the work of Panchnam should be completed at the earliest. As an immediate help, Wesmac should give Rs. 2 lakh to small traders and Rs. 5 lakh to medium and large traders. Apart from this, traders who do not have insurance. They should be given 50 per cent of their total loss as compensation.

800 bridges still submerged in water, traffic closed on 469 roads Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a review meeting at Varsha Bungalow on Monday. He directed to immediately start power supply and water supply in the flood affected areas. In the same meeting, Secretary from Public Works Department Ulhas Debdwar told the Chief Minister that about 290 roads need to be repaired. Traffic is closed on 469 roads. While 800 bridges are submerged in water. Dinesh Waghmare, Principal Secretary, Energy Department said that 14,737 transformers got damaged due to heavy rains. Out of this, 9,500 have been repaired by hard work. Similarly, 67 sub-stations were damaged. Out of that 44 have started again. Waghmare said that power supply has been restored to 9.49 lakh flood-affected customers.

The death toll rose to 164, the Help and Rehabilitation Department said that due to heavy rains and landslides on July 22, 10 districts have been badly affected. So far 164 people have died in this natural calamity. However, since June till now, about 251 people have lost their lives in incidents due to torrential rains in the state. NDRF, Navy, Coast Guard and other agencies engaged in rescue and relief work have rescued 2.30 lakh people and shifted them to a safe place. Even now 100 people are reported missing in this natural calamity.
