Goods worth 25 lakh seized along with liquor

Despite the strict prohibition on liquor in the state, bootleggers are carrying out the misappropriation of liquor in public. Foreign liquor worth lakhs of rupees has been recovered from a godown located in Saijpur village of Ahmedabad district. The accused had hidden liquor in the godown by making a place under the ground. The police has arrested one accused along with the consignment.

One arrested with 322 boxes of liquor from warehouse

According to the information, there is a warehouse of a person named Vikas Yadav in Saijpur village. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch had received information about the concealment of a large quantity of liquor in this godown as part of a campaign against Prohibition and Gambling cases. Based on the information, raiding the crime branch team recovered 322 boxes of liquor from the godown.

The value of the liquor hidden in the godown is stated to be Rs 36,74,000. According to the police, further action has been started by confiscating 6 vehicles worth Rs 31 lakh and wheat sacks along with a total of Rs 68,59,000.

The accused said – liquor was imported from Haryana

Police have arrested one accused during the raid. The accused told during interrogation that this liquor was ordered by Vikas Yadav, while in Hisar, Haryana, a person named Ravindra Jat had sent it here by hiding the liquor in a wheat sack. At present, the police has started questioning the accused and further investigation.
