A webinar was organized on the topic of legal rights of women in India under the joint aegis of the Legal Educational Cell and Women’s Cell of Smt. Sushma Swaraj Government Girls College, Ballabhgarh. In which Advocate Rajkumar Sharma participated as the keynote speaker. The program was presided over by Principal Krishna Sheoran and conducted by Saurabh Tripathi.

In his address, Advocate Rajkumar Sharma said that in any period of the Indian Sanatan tradition, women were not considered unequal. Rather, if we look at the golden period of India, then the supreme scholars like Mata Devhuti, Sati Anusuya, Sukanya, Shabari, Vidyotma etc., who many times defeated men in debate and manifested the power of women. Rani Laxmi Bai, Durgavati, Jija Bai proved their worth in arms and scriptures. Sharma inspired the college students by giving an example and said that Indian-origin Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams made Indian women glorified in space. He said that the sex ratio in Haryana has improved rapidly. In which at present there are 952 girls per thousand boys. Apart from this, the Haryana Government should establish Durga Shakti App, Durga Shakti Vehicle, women’s college in each assembly and women police stations in every district so that women and girls can get education as well as their rights protection and legal aid can be easily available.

Women sarpanches were also informed about many women welfare schemes like scooty distribution. In the webinar, the questions by the girls gave detailed information on the Indian Penal Code, Child Sexual Offenses Act, Succession Law, Maintenance Act, Domestic Violence Act, Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace and many other women’s rights which are mentioned in the Indian Constitution. Ramanpreet Kaur, Shivani Yadav, Dr. Sapna Sachdeva, Dr. Sapna Nagpal, Dr. Richa etc. participated on this occasion on behalf of the college family.
