BJP’s National Vice President and Koderma MP Annapurna Devi has become a Union Minister. Apart from Annapurna Devi, Arjun Munda from Jharkhand is a minister at the Centre. On the call of the party organization, she reached Delhi on Tuesday morning. Before the party’s high-level meeting late in the evening, National Organization Minister BL Santosh spoke to him. According to sources, he has been made minister from Yadav quota. He is getting the benefit of the situation arising out of the mutual tussle between JDU and BJP in Bihar. The thinking of the organization is that by making him a minister, along with the Yadav quota, Jharkhand, Bihar and women quota can also be satisfied.
Annapurna Devi, who left the post of RJD state president in the last parliamentary elections and joined the BJP, became the first state vice-president after winning the election. After this he was also made the National Vice President of BJP and co-in-charge of Haryana. NDA candidate cum BJP leader Annapurna Devi has become MP from Koderma parliamentary seat defeating Mahagathbandhan candidate cum JVM leader Babulal Marandi in 2019. She left the RJD and joined the BJP just before the Lok Sabha elections. By cutting the ticket of outgoing MP Ravindra Rai from Koderma, the BJP had reposed faith in Annapurna Devi and made her its candidate from here.
Annapurna was a minister in Hemant Soren’s government in 2013.
Annapurna’s husband Late Ramesh Prasad Yadav had been a minister in the Rabri Devi government of Bihar in the year 1998. Annapurna Devi entered politics after her husband’s untimely death. Annapurna won the 1998 assembly by-elections, Jharkhand assembly elections in 2000, 2005 and 2009. Annapurna Devi was made a minister in the 2013 Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand. In 2014, he had to face defeat from the Koderma assembly seat. Annapurna Devi was defeated by BJP leader Neera Yadav.
