  • Governor Draupadi Murmu had the longest tenure of 6 years and 1 month in Jharkhand.

President Ram Nath Kovind appointed eight governors on Tuesday. Tripura Governor Ramesh Bais has been made the Governor of Jharkhand. He will be the 10th governor of the state. He is originally from Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Being a Hindi speaking, OBC and neighboring state, he has been sent from Tripura to Jharkhand. The tenure of outgoing Governor Draupadi Murmu was completed on 17 May 2020.

Draupadi Murmu was sworn in as the Governor of Jharkhand on 18 May 2015. She was the governor here for the maximum 6 years, a month and 19 days. Dainik Bhaskar spoke to Ramesh Bais at his Raipur residence. On the question related to the elections of non-BJP ruled Jharkhand, he said, “What is the role of the Governor, I don’t think there will be any problem.” Will sit and work with the Chief Minister.

Ramesh Bais was the MP of Raipur for seven times.

Ramesh Bais, born on 2 August 1948 in Raipur, reached Parliament for the first time in 1989. He was MP from Raipur for seven times. Represented Raipur continuously from 1989 to 2019. In Atal Vihari Vajpayee’s government, Bais has served as Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Forest and Environment and Information Broadcasting Departments. Before 2014, he was the chief whip of the BJP in the Lok Sabha. BJP did not give ticket in 2019. Later in July 2019, the central government made him the governor of Tripura.

CM Belle- State will get better direction

When asked about the appointment of a new governor in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the central government has given Jharkhand a new governor. I hope the new Governor Ramesh Bais will play his role in giving better direction to the state.
