NEW DELHI: An announcement on Thursday by Maharashtra Minister Vijay Wadettiwar declaring an end to the lockdown in the country’s most Covid-affected state prompted government to issue a carefully worded denial
Relief and rehabilitation minister Wadettiwar’s announcement came without the knowledge or sanction of the chief minister Uddhav Thackeray. According to reports, Thackeray was unhappy over the manner in which Wadettiwar unveiled the plan without consulting the CMO. “There is a scientific basis to the plan. Wadettiwar exceeded his brief. Before making the announcement, he should have consulted the CM,” a bureaucrat said.
