While competition is aplenty, Ola’s S1 and Simple’s One claim to offer benchmark standards. Should the likes of Ather Energy, TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto be worried? That’s on time to speak, but here is a quick comparison of S1 and One.
Price:
S1 and S1 Pro are priced at Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999. Simple’s One will set you back by Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom).
Range:
The claims are tall as both aim to raise the bar. S1 and S1 Pro come with a claimed range of 121km and 181km, respectively. The scooters pack non-replaceable 2.98 kWh and 3.97 kWh batteries.
Simple One comes with a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery offering a maximum claimed range of 236 km and a claimed range of 203 km in Eco mode.
Charging time:
The S1 and S1 Pro come with a portable home charger that can fully charge the scooters in a claimed 4.48 hours and 6.30 hours, respectively.
The Simple One comes with a removable battery pack weighing 7 kg, which can be charged at any 15A charging socket (0-80% in 2.5 hours).
Ride modes:
Ola is offering three driving modes – Normal, Sport and Hyper. Simple has gone for Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic as mode options.
Top Speed:
S1 and S1 Pro max out at 90 kmph and 115 kmph respectively while the Simple One can touch 105 kmph. Similarly, 0-40 kmph is also neck-and-neck. S1 Pro hits the mark at 3 seconds while One claims 2.9 seconds.
Features:
The Simple One is also a connected scooter that is 4G enabled, and gets features like 7-inch touchscreen panel, bluetooth connectivity, geo-fencing, over-the-air updates, onboard navigation, access to music control and call control to the connected smartphone, as well as remote telemetrics and even a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
S1 has no physical key and pairs with your phone with its “digital key” feature. This enables it to know when you’re near it and unlock automatically. It will also lock itself as you move away. It has a multi-microphone array, all-LED lights, AI speech recognition algorithms built in-house, and a 7-inch touchscreen display. Ola S1 has an anti-theft alert system, geo-fencing, and a battery that is flame-retardant and water and dust resistant. The scooters also come with voice recognition.
Cycle parts:
Simple One has a tubular steel chassis with a telescopic front fork, symmetrically mounted progressive mono-shock rear suspension, and 12-inch wheels with 200 mm front disc and 180 mm rear disc. It weighs 110 kg and has a boot space of 30 litres.
Ola S1 rides on 110/70 R12 tyres, rear mono-shock suspension and front single fork suspension. It also has cruise and reverse modes.
Colour options:
Ola is offering 10 colours in satin, matte and glossy finishes. Simple One is available in four colors namely Azzure Blue, Brazen Black, Grace White, and Namma Red.
Availability:
The Simple One has been launched across 13 states including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab.
The Simple One is now open for pre-orders starting at Rs 1,947.
Ola S1 will commence the sales from September 8, 2021, and will start delivery across 1,000 cities and towns in October. Till then, Ola S1 is available for reservation at just Rs 499.
