Wherever the debris lying in the entire city remains a headache for the Municipal Corporation. Due to lack of proper arrangement, people are dumping the debris of the building wherever they are. In view of its seriousness, Municipal Corporation Gurgaon Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja held a meeting with the officials regarding C&D Waste Management and said that the city should be cleaned by lifting the debris lying on the sides of the roads and vacant plots etc. .
In the meeting, the officials informed that 5 places have been identified by the Municipal Corporation for dumping of C&D waste, which are called secondary points. These include places like Sector-56, near Kadipur, Transport Nagar, Pwala Khusrupur and Wazirabad. IL&FS has set up a plant at Basai for the processing of debris, which is currently operating with a capacity of 300 tonnes per day.
In the past, there is also a provision to curb unauthorized dumping of debris and fine the violators. An agency was hired for door-to-door collection of debris, which after the assessment was deposited in the municipal corporation, used to pick up the debris from the house and dump it at the secondary point. Despite this, the situation is getting worse.
The Municipal Commissioner said that in addition to the pre-determined 5 sites, other sites should also be identified and during this, special care should be taken that processing can be done there in future. He also directed the concerned officials to increase the capacity of Basai plant.
