PU Senate Elections: University officially released schedule, candidates started campaigning; Meeting on Faculty’s election process this week, report to be given in court

The schedule was submitted by the university to the court on July 16 and it was approved by the court on Monday.

Panjab University has officially released the schedule for the elections to be held in Senate 2020. Along with this, the candidates of different Constituencies have also intensified the campaign. He started this process on social media as soon as the High Court order came, but now the phone call is going on.

Due to the improvement in the corona virus related environment, the candidates are also starting the program of personal meeting and mingling. University elections are to begin on August 3, in which principals and members of technical and professional colleges will be elected first.

A principal has already been elected unopposed and after nearly two decades, a doctor is also a candidate for technical staff. The university will hold a meeting next week regarding the selection process of the faculty. The court has asked the university to submit a report in this regard.

The process of selection of faculty is going to be different this time as it is not certain whether the pre-selected dean and secretary will conduct its election or the university will decide some other process. This is the first time that the faculty elections are being held last instead of first, breaking the tradition.
