At the same time, the CPI(M) district committee has also expressed concern over the submergence of a part of the ridge ground and strongly condemned the lax attitude of the Municipal Corporation Shimla and the state government regarding its conservation. The CPI(M) said that if the Municipal Corporation Shimla and the government do not immediately start the work of conservation and restoration of the Ridge Ground in time, then the CPM will mobilize the people and agitate against this lax attitude of the government.

CPI(M) District Secretary and former Mayor Sanjay Chauhan said that a part of it is getting damaged for more than a decade and every year during the rainy season cracks develop in this damaged part and the government simply shovels it away. . He raised the demand that the Government and the Municipal Corporation should immediately implement a plan for the conservation and restoration of Shimla Ridge Ground.

Stabilization report ready, still not working: The PWD has already got the stabilization report prepared for the submerged part of the ridge ground. Experts from IIT Roorkee took soil and strata samples from the back of the ridge in October-November 2020. It was tested in the lab of IIT Roorkee and on the basis of this the stabilization report was prepared and given to the department. After this, the PWD decided that the structural design of the concrete work would also be done from IIT Roorkee itself, while the work has not been started yet.

Also there are 9 water tanks with a capacity of 45 lakh liters: Under the Ridge Ground there is a British water storage tank supplying water to the entire Shimla city. This tank has the capacity to store 45 lakh liters of water. In such a situation, increasing cracks on the ridge can also threaten the water tank. Although the drinking water company claims that the restoration work of the Ridge Tank cracks has been completed in time, but nothing is being done to save the part of the Ridge which is collapsing.
