  • Coronavirus Lawyers Death Compensation; Supreme Court Dismisses PIL And Impose Fine

New Delhi13 hours ago

The Supreme Court made a strong comment on the petition for compensation to the families of the lawyers who died in Kovid. The court told the lawyer who filed the petition that your life is not more valuable than the lives of others. So we can’t treat you differently. SC also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the lawyer.

This petition was filed in the SC by advocate Pradeep Kumar Yadav. Yadav had said in the petition that a compensation of Rs 50 lakh should be given to the families of those lawyers below 60 years of age, who lost their lives due to corona infection or any other reason. The petition was heard by a bench of Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Vikram Nath, Justice BV Nagarathna.

3 harsh comments of the court

1. Will take steps to stop such petition
This is not a petition of public interest, but a petition of publicity interest. On this, Advocate Yadav said that I withdraw this petition and will file the next petition on better grounds. On this, the court imposed a fine of 10 thousand and said that in future lawyers should not file such petitions, for this we will take quick steps.

2. Many people lost their lives, you are no exception
We cannot consider you an exception. Many people have lost their lives due to Kovid. The life of a lawyer cannot be more valuable than that of others. We have already talked about compensation for all those people who lost their lives due to Corona.

3. Are other people in the society not important
Are other people in the society not important? This petition has been made in a cut-copy-paste method. It will not happen that lawyers file such petitions and demand compensation. We will not allow this to happen.
