HRTC employees staged a sit-in at the Old Bus Stand, during which all routes remained closed.

The wheels of Himachal Road Transport Corporation buses remained stuck for the second consecutive day. Neither did any bus from Shimla on Saturday nor did the bus come from any route. In such a situation, the government and the management corporation are silent on this whole matter, but the general public is facing problems. The entire staff of HRTC is out on the roads. Management officials are neither trying to persuade the employees nor are they accepting their demands.

After the controversy over the transfer of RM Local Devasen Negi, now the Joint Coordination Committee of the employees and the Driver Union have also raised the demand for making a permanent policy for the payable DA and Peace Meal workers. Man Singh Thakur, the provincial head of the driver union, says that he will continue his strike until we are assured in writing to cancel the transfer of RM and fulfill other demands.

People could not come from villages, government workers could not reach
Due to the closure of government buses, the people of the villages adjoining the city are in the most trouble. Only HRTC buses go to the suburbs, so the people of the village could not reach the city. In such a situation, many government employees had to come to the office by private vehicles or had to take leave.

Long lines of passengers everywhere
Long lines of people were seen waiting for the buses at different places in the city. People were also seen wandering in the old bus stand waiting for government buses. Commuters standing to reach New Shimla, Sanjaili, Dhali and other suburbs faced difficulties. People had to book taxis and go towards their homes.

Vegetables did not even reach Shimla from villages, loss
These days the season of vegetables is going on in the village. In such a situation, most of the farmers from the village transport vegetables to the mandis on the roof of the government bus. Vegetables reach the mandis very easily by paying bus fare. Whereas if a pickup or a big car is hired to bring vegetables, then it becomes expensive. In such a situation, the farmers had to suffer a lot.

Government giving protection to private bus operators
On Saturday at the Old Bus Stand, HRTC personnel accused the government of giving protection to private bus operators. The decision to increase the fare was also taken by the government at the behest of private bus operators. Now the tax has also been waived. Whereas HRTC employees are working day and night to benefit the corporation without any discrimination. When an officer works for the good of the rule, he is transferred.

Wrong decision became the reason for the strike
On July 16, the audio of a conversation between a private bus operator and RM in the city went viral. In this, where the operator had raised questions about timing, RM had justified the timing of government buses running in the city. It was clearly heard in this audio that a bus operator had warned RM that he would not allow his will in this. After this, there was a lot of rhetoric between HRTC unions and private bus operators. In such a situation, now the RM was transferred by the corporation management, after which the dispute has increased. Surprisingly, there has been a continuous strike since the last two days, but the management is sitting silent.
