- India Set For 100 Crore Covid Vaccine Milestone Today Prepare For Celebration

The figure of 100 crore doses of corona vaccine in the country will be crossed today. Under the vaccination drive that started 9 months ago, more than 99 crore 85 lakh doses have been given so far. Of these, 70 crore 68 lakh 91 thousand 643 people have taken one dose and 29 crore 16 lakh 61 thousand 794 people have taken both the doses.
Government has made special preparations
- The government has made special preparations to announce the completion of 100 crore doses of the vaccine. For this, there is a plan to announce through loudspeakers on trains, planes and ships. Along with this, villages that have completed 100% vaccination have been told that on completion of the 100 crore figure, they should respect the health workers by putting up posters and banners.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi at 10.30 am and will talk to the frontline workers.
- Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will also launch a song and a film today in connection with the celebration of 100 crore doses. This program has been kept at Red Fort at 12.30 pm. It is being told that Kailash Kher has given voice in this song. According to the news agency PTI, the country’s largest tricolor of 1400 kg is also expected to be installed at the Red Fort.
- It is being told that BJP leaders have also been asked to respect the health workers by visiting the vaccination centers. According to media reports, party President JP Nadda will go to Ghaziabad, General Secretary Arun Singh Coimbatore and General Secretary Dushyant Gautam will go to Lucknow.
How has been the pace of vaccination so far?
The vaccination campaign started in the country from January 16. The initial 200 million vaccine doses were taken in 131 days. The next 20 crore doses were given in 52 days. It took 39 days to deliver 40 to 60 crore doses. It took only 24 days to give 60 crore to 80 crore doses.
Now it is taking 31 days from 80 crores to 100 crores. That is, now the speed has reduced. If the vaccination continues at the same pace, then it will take about 175 more days to get 216 crore vaccine doses in the country. That is, we can cross this figure around 5 April 2022.
Will have to wait now for the mask to be free
Even though we are close to injecting 100 crore doses, only 20% of the country’s population has been fully vaccinated. A single dose of the vaccine has been given to 29% of the population. In such a situation, we will have to wait for now for the mask to be free.
Epidemiologist Dr Chandrakant Laharia says that it can be dangerous to do so until 85% of the population is completely vaccinated. In countries where masks have been exempted, the population density is much lower than in India. In such a situation, we should take a decision according to our needs.
According to a report by brokerage firm Yash Securities, by January, 60 to 70% of the country’s population will be fully vaccinated. By this time India will achieve herd immunity. After this, people can be completely exempted from wearing masks. Overall, it can be said that we will have to wait for at least 6 to 8 months more for complete freedom from masks.
