  • The proposal to withdraw the fee waiver will be discussed in the meeting of the Syndicate

Syndicate meeting is going to be held at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University on Friday. In which the proposal letter of South Gujarat Self Finance College Management Association will be presented, in which it is written that there has been no increase in tuition fees in the last five years. Now due to waiving 12% tuition fee during the Corona period, there is a financial problem in running the college.

Association President Chandrakant Jariwala and Vice President Mahendra Patel said that we oppose the 12% fee waiver of the university. The concerned institutions have the right to decide the amount of fees. The college has to determine the cost of studies per student at 15% and future growth in mind.

It is unjust and illegal to fix uniform fees in junior and senior colleges following the policy of “Taka Ser Bhaji, Taka Ser Khaja”. In the year 2012-16 i.e. in the last five years, the university has not increased the fees. Employees have to pay 3% salary increase every year and dearness allowance twice a year, only about 12%.

If you calculate this, then the cost of education increases. Colleges are running at a loss. Seats in private colleges have been reduced from 100 to 70. According to the guidelines of the UGC, all the benefits including gratuity are given to the employees.

In view of the Corona epidemic, it has been decided to waive 12% tuition fees in colleges, which is wrong. Due to this decision, financial difficulties are being faced in running the college. The association has demanded the withdrawal of the decision of fee waiver.
