Earlier, the lowest 2582 vaccines were administered on 25 April. The government started the vaccine campaign on 21 June.

Since then, till July 6, the Metropolitan Municipality got 395120 doses of the vaccine, while 435003 people were vaccinated i.e. 39883 more vaccines were given than the dose received. The more vaccines that were received, the Metropolitan Municipality has given them to the people from the stock left with them.

701 vaccines were administered in private hospitals. Vaccination was started from 16 January 2021. Initially, Surat had made a state-wide record of administering more than 57 thousand vaccines in a day, but after that it could never reach even 50 thousand. Gradually the speed of vaccination per day decreased.

Hundreds of people have to return disappointed without a vaccine

People are flocking to the centers to get vaccinated. They are queuing since 5 in the morning, but hundreds of people have to return without vaccine. After standing in the queue for the whole day, it is said that the vaccine is over.

Due to the crowd of people and lack of vaccine, the Municipal Corporation has started giving advance tokens now a days. For the last one week, boards were put up at the main gates of vaccination centers at 10 am – today’s token is over.

So far only 14.57 percent of the people have been able to take both the doses.

There were 172 centers on Monday, but on Tuesday, only 40 centers were vaccinated.
