Controversy over Baba Ramdev’s statement: IMA Uttarakhand filed a defamation case of Rs 1000 crore; Said- Yoga gurus apologize in writing

Indian Medical Association (IMA) Uttarakhand has filed a defamation case of Rs 1000 crore on Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev on Wednesday. The association has made the case on the basis of a video of Baba Ramdev going viral on social media, in which Baba is calling allopathy rubbish and bankrupt science.

However, Baba later retracted his statement. On this, the association says that in response to the statement Ramdev has given, if they do not release the video in the next 15 days and do not apologize in writing, they will demand a compensation of Rs 1000 crore from them.

IMA sent notice
Earlier, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Saturday accused Baba Ramdev of spreading lies against allopathy treatment. IMA sent a legal notice to Ramdev. The doctors’ body had also demanded the prosecution of Ramdev. However, Ramdev’s organization Patanjali had issued a statement denouncing the allegations as false.

Ramdev challenges DGCI’s credibility
The IMA wrote, ‘Baba Ramdev has claimed that millions of people died due to drugs other than Remedesvir, Faviflu and DGCI. He has challenged the credibility of the Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) and the Health Minister. The use of Remadecivir in the treatment of Corona patients was approved by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), a central body in June-July 2020. Baba Ramdev should be prosecuted for spreading these illusions and endangering the lives of millions of people. Ramdev had described Favipiravir as a medicine for fever. This shows how little knowledge they have about medical science.

Allegations of making controversial statements even earlier
The IMA has written in the letter that earlier even during the launch of his drug made for Corona, Ramdev called the doctors a killer. Health Minister was also present in the program. Everyone knows that Baba Ramdev and his companion Balkrishna get allopathy treatment when they are ill. Even after this, they are constantly spreading illusions about allopathy in order to sell their illicit drugs. This is affecting a large population.
