NEW DELHI: The Mahindra announced its flagship SUV XUV700 conquered the highest motorable road in the world at Umling La in Ladakh region
XUV700, the first Made-in-India vehicle to reach that feat, covered Delhi to Manali then Manali to Leh on the second day, Leh to Hanle on the third, and reached Umling La on the fourth day.
Umling La which is in south-eastern Ladakh, is the highest motorable road in the world at 19300 feet and is 1667 feet higher than Mt Everest Base camp.
Two petrol automatic XUV700s were driven.
With dipping oxygen at high altitude, the 200PS XUV700 performed impeccably. The XUV700 ran though the high mountain passes, traversing through gravel, sand, mud, broken roads and asphalt laden roads with ease.
The XUV700s were driven by enthusiasts from the automotive fraternity.
