Water supply to the capital has come to a standstill due to siltation in drinking water projects.

There will be no water supply in the city on Thursday. Due to heavy rains on Wednesday, water supply to the capital has come to a standstill due to siltation in almost all drinking water projects. Due to which pumping could not be done in water projects on Wednesday. In such a situation, the residents of the city may have to face problems for the coming few days. More than 7000 NTOs of silt have occurred in the Giri and Gumma projects that supply water to the city.

This made it difficult to lift the water. There is a possibility of pump failure if it is lifted with silt. At the same time, the water also becomes muddy, in which case the pumping has to be stopped after heavy rains. After heavy rains on Wednesday, 7400 NTOs in Giri project and 7300 NTOs in Gumma have been silted up. Due to which the water supply is going to be affected for the next few days.

On the other hand, Rajesh Kashyap, AGM of SJPNL, which supplies water to the city, says that the rain which started late Tuesday night continued on Wednesday, due to which all the projects have got siltation. He said that maximum siltation has come in Giri and Gumma, where siltation has crossed 7000 NTO. He said that if this type of rain continues, it will become difficult to supply water. He said that it takes time for the siltation to decompose, if the rain continues like this, then pumping will not happen. At the same time, the water schedule can also be changed for the coming few days.

AGM Rajesh Kashyap said that due to heavy rains, pumping has been affected in almost all the projects. In such a situation, excess water is being drawn from the Sutlej Chaba project. He said that the capacity of Chaba project is 10 MLD, so pumping is being done continuously. So that maximum water can be supplied to the city.
