The officers of Maharashtra Police have taken Kalicharan out of Raipur jail and taken him to Pune.

The troubles of self-styled godman Kalicharan, who has been accused of abusing Mahatma Gandhi and disturbing communal harmony, have increased. Kalicharan has now been taken on transit remand by Maharashtra Police. On Wednesday morning, Maharashtra Police officials left with Kalicharan. He is to be produced in Thane court on Thursday.

Maharashtra’s Pune police, who were stuck in Raipur for two days, had sought the transit remand of Kalicharan in the District and Sessions Court. He said that a case is registered against the accused under serious sections. His remand is necessary for interrogation of the accused. On Tuesday, the court accepted the Maharashtra Police’s application for transit remand. After taking the order, Maharashtra Police officials submitted the order in Raipur Central Jail and have taken Kalicharan on their remand. The police has left for Maharashtra by road with him. The officials of the Maharashtra Police do not face any problem, so the officials of the Raipur Police have sent two follow teams to the border with the team of Maharashtra Police. The Raipur Police had arrested Sant Kalicharan on 30 December. Later, the police sent him to judicial custody till January 13.

A team of eight members had reached Raipur

The Maharashtra Police team had reached on Sunday to take Kalicharan in its remand. On Monday, Maharashtra Police applied for remand in the court, but it was rejected. The application was again made in the court on Tuesday. The judge issued a direction to take remand on the application. The order said, before the expiry of the period of judicial remand, that is, before January 13, he will have to be produced in the Raipur court.
