Mumbai Sessions Court will hear today on bail plea of jailed Raj Kundra in pornography case. Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19. He was first put on police remand till 27 July, while the fort court (Esplanade Court) later remanded him to 14 days judicial custody. Along with Raj Kundra, his IT head Ryan Tharp’s bail plea will also be heard today. The court had also sought a response from the Mumbai Police on the bail plea. On the basis of this reply of the police, the court will decide its decision. According to police sources, crime branch lawyers will oppose Kundra’s bail. She can also base the statement of actress Sherlyn Chopra against Kundra to the police.
Bail petition has been rejected once earlier
Earlier on July 28, the fort court had rejected Raj Kundra’s bail plea. The court was satisfied with the contention of the prosecution side that after his release, Raj Kundra could influence the investigation and witnesses in the case. The police had said in the court that Raj Kundra is powerful. He is the main accused in the case. In such a situation, if he is released, he can influence both the witnesses and the investigation. He can destroy the evidence. The police also told the court that they have solid evidence against Raj Kundra and the crime branch has seized 68 adult videos from Raj Kundra’s office.

- IPC Section 292, 296 – Making and selling pornographic material
- Section 420 – Betrayal, fraud
- Section 67, 67(a) of the Information Technology Act – Putting and disseminating obscene material in electronic form
- Discriminatory Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, Section 2(g) 3, 4, 6, 7 – Making, selling and disseminating obscene films relating to women.
