The latest case has come to light from Pimpri Chinchwad, adjoining Pune, where a man who claims to be ACP has been accused of raping a woman. During the rape, the accused made a video of the 38-year-old woman and raped the woman several times again, threatening to make it viral. In her complaint to the police, the woman has said that the accused often used to say, ‘I am ACP and no one can harm me. If I told anyone about this, I would not leave you and your family alive, the accused threatened the victim like this.

Called at home on the pretext of lending money and raped
A case has been registered against the accused Vikas Awasthi at Sangvi police station. The accused is absconding after the incident. Investigation has also revealed that the accused is not an ACP and has never been in the police department. He had introduced himself as ACP to entrap the woman in his trap. According to the police, the victim is a teacher and had gone to borrow some money from the accused a few days back. On the pretext of giving money, the accused called the victim to his house and raped her. He had also got the woman signed on two blank checks by trapping her.

It is alleged that during this time he made the victim drink soft drink mixed with intoxicants and raped her. He photographed the victim in a nude state and drove the woman away without paying any money. The victim was shocked by the incident. The accused went to the school where the victim was working. There, by showing the victim a nude photo, he threatened to defame the school and family members by showing the photo.

7 months pregnant rape victim commits suicide in Amravati
A 17-year-old rape victim committed suicide by hanging herself in Maharashtra’s Amravati on Saturday. The victim was 7 months pregnant. The police have arrested a person in this case on charges of rape and abetment to suicide. The victim’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a room in their house.

The victim was living with her parents. In the year 2020, the victim had a friendship with a young man and the accused raped her on a bluff and then when she became pregnant, the accused stopped meeting the victim. When the family came to know about the daughter’s pregnancy, the matter reached the police station and the police started investigation. However, the investigation was still going on that the victim committed suicide under stress. Fearing slander, the girl is likely to commit suicide by hanging herself. The accused was arrested on Thursday from Nandhroom village and produced him in the court, from where he has been remanded in police custody till September 15, an official said.
